Through organic growth and the considered acquisition of like-minded established businesses who have a proven positive reputation that mirrors our own, we operate internationally with manufacturing and refractory operations in the UK, Europe and the USA.
Zampell Limited in the centre of the UK, incorporating CobbLloyd refractories since 1st October 2018 provide installation and engineering services in the refractories industry, giving the overall business more significant resources to serve the marketplace better.
Along with Vulcan Refractories, another Zampell affiliate, the group will also be better positioned to service the Energy from Waste market since it can control the production, supply and installation of quality refractory tiles for boiler linings. With Vulcan’s new, patented “ZEROX” formula for tiles, and the extensive refractory services offered by Zampell limited will have the best product at the best value available to the marketplace.

Quality
Zampell is approved to the international quality management standard ISO 9001. The requirements of the standard have been incorporated within the company's activities and are part of the 'working fabric' of its operations.
Internal audits are regularly conducted on sites (in addition to those for the manufacturing facilities and offices) to ensure compliance and to seek opportunities for improvements.
Health and Safety
Zampell is approved to the international safety management standard ISO 45001. We understand a company’s reputation rises and falls on its health and safety performance and that a skilled experienced workforce is nothing without the highest standards in health & safety.
H & S audits are incorporated (including Environmental aspects) into the QA audits on sites. In addition, H & S matters are constantly monitored on site by our contracts management with onward reporting to the Company’s Directors.
We are proud of our safety record, but we never rest on our laurels and are continually looking at ways of improving our performance and reducing incidents.
The company has been a member of RoSPA for many years.
History
Cobb Lloyd Refractories now Zampell UK, was originally established in Northern Ireland in 1965 as Cobb Refractories and was generally involved in dense refractory installations within the power generation industries and the construction of industrial chimneys.
From 1999, Cobb expanded to the mainland UK and developed into a leading contractor within the UK refractory industry with an excellent reputation for quality of workmanship together with a first-class safety record. In 2011 Cobb Refractories and Lloyd Refractory Insulation Systems, a leading independent low thermal mass refractory contractor merged to create the highly experienced refractory contracting Company - COBB LLOYD Refractories Limited.
The Company's strong market presence within many industries enables us to successfully carry out major refractory contracts in sectors including Incineration, Iron and steel forging/heat treatment, aluminium, power generation and petrochemicals.
The company is now ideally placed to offer complete turnkey packages to our customers. The extensive experience of the management within the refractories market enables Zampell Limited to provide the best possible service and highest quality installations to its customers.
